On the Hunt for a Bridesmaid Dress!

I've been having a little trouble figuring out a bridesmaid dress - I don't want to girls to have to pay too much but I also don't want them to waste money on a cheap dress they won't ever ever wear again.

So I'm thinking short, probably with some type of strap so it matches what I will wear.

Hopefully I can find something that everyone can afford AND that everyone likes.....maybe I can just pick a color and then they can pick the dress they like? I'll look at David's Bridal first.
